لـيـــبــيا الجــــديـــد ة

One year on the web, 31 years in the making.

You left Libya 31 years ago with one goal: to further your education and then return a better Libyan for a better Libya. Did it cross your mind that you would be barred from doing so? As you finished your education, married, began a family, were you constantly thinking of your return? At what point did you realize this day may not come? Or do you not let that thought come to pass?

You left Libya 31 years ago with one goal; and while on the surface it may seem that it has not yet been achieved; those who know y0u know that while your body has been here for 31 years your soul has never left. You have completed your education and moved on to focus your energies on a better Libya.

You understood that a nation cannot improve unless the citizens first improve themselves. And although you have been physically out of the country for 31 years a Libyan citizen you will remain.

You understood that a nation can improve one person at a time so you raised your family to share your goal. And while we may not have swum in her shores, strolled through her markets, or contemplated in her desert, we share the same love for Libya as you do.

You understood that a nation can improve from the work of one person and so you continue to struggle for Libya to flourish. While others may think your goals are obsolete, your methods obscure, that no one is listening, that you are doing yourself more harm then good, you understand that the most powerful weapon a person can possess is knowledge and that it is your duty to convey your message to those who will listen. You have launched your website in solidarity with your Libyan brothers and sisters all over the world in order to share your message with all. You will not be drowned out. And to those who are not now listening, they will eventually have no choice but to uncover their ears.

You left Libya 31 years ago and there has not been one day when you hung your head in sorrow thinking of what your country has done to you; rather, you begin each day by thinking: what can I do for my country.

You left Libya 31 years ago and I pray that you will return…successful!
