Appeal
From
the International Muslim Scholars’ League
To Muslims and all those of conscience in Europe and the USA
The
tyrannical Israeli aggression against our people and
brothers in Lebanon and Palestine has reached unprecedented
levels of brutality. Israel has bombed the homes of innocent
civilians, orphanages, hospitals, clinics, factories, food
convoys, electricity stations and water reservoirs. Even
United Nations observers were attacked. What is taking place
in dear Lebanon today has been and continues to be
perpetrated in occupied Palestine where the monstrous
Israeli war machine spares no one, young or old, man or
woman.
On July
30th 2006, Israeli warplanes shelled a civilians’ shelter in
the village of Qana killing more than 55, the majority of
whom are infants, children and women. It is our duty as
Muslims to stand by the steadfast peoples of Lebanon and
Palestine, to support their resistance and salute the
solidarity between their Muslims and Christians, for the
truth is that the Zionist aggression makes no distinction
between Muslim or Christian, fighter or civilian. We must
decry this terrible onslaught against innocent men and
women, which demolishes their homes, wrecks their
infrastructure, and turns thousands of citizens into
refugees, homeless and immigrants fanning across the land in
search for safety. We must denounce the national and
international forces that back this aggression financially
and psychologically and provide it with cover, trampling on
the principles of justice, equality and nations' legitimate
rights. It is the religious duty of every Muslim man and
woman to condemn these crimes. If it were not for the
European and American govenments' positions biased towards
the Zionist aggressor, the latter would never have been able
to perpetrate its atrocities safe in the knowledge that it
will neither be reprimanded nor prosecuted.
The
International Muslim Scholars' League appeals to Muslims in
Europe and the United States to rally on Saturday August 5th
2006 (11 Rajab 1427) in denunciation of Zionist aggression,
and condemnation of the support it continues to receive from
European and the US governments. The League calls upon the
Muslim communities and all those of conscience to unite in
peaceful organized protest, and express their solidarity
with the people of Lebanon and Palestine in their legitimate
resistance to Zionist aggression and occupation.
